Still Valid Today

This is a great work, I found it very informative. It's strange that there really aren't a whole lot of books like this written in contemporary times. Modern books will list the different engineering fields and some short description about them and about other things such as career progression or salaries, but they don't go in depth like this book nor do they have an engaging writing style the way this book does.

An Interesting Primer On Engineering

This is an ancient book-written 94 years ago.
The advice is still very relevant for students
considering the continuing needs of the
engineering profession.
For instance, the author explains important
personal characteristics of a good engineer.
Examples are inquisitiveness, objectivity and
the ability to seek evidence-based solutions.
Horton explains the theoretical and practical
sides of engineering. He views engineering
applications in civil engineering, electrical,
mechanical and mining. More recently, the
profession has branched out into areas like
fire safety, industrial engineering, chemical
and nuclear engineering (fission/fusion).
Overall, this book would help prospective
engineering students to decide on a major
based upon the personal characteristics
required of engineers and the classic jobs
or opportunities that have been always
available. ( in some cases dating back centuries)

It was a great read and was very insightful for anyone interested in engineering. I would recommend this to any engineering student.
