Excellent book to practice French reading

Excellent book for my 5-year old daughter to practice reading in French since there are typically only one to three short lines on each page. While my daughter grew up with both French and English at home, this would be a good book for someone learning French as well (very basic vocabulary and sentences).

Great minds,...think in Violet

I remember my mother reading this to me, (Harold and the Purple Crayon, is the name of the English version). I read it to my oldest two (now in their 20's), I bought it for my youngest two, they love it also,...so I was overjoyed to find it in French for my non-English speaking niece from Canada. Yay! This book seems so simple when you first open it,...but watch how your child's imagine runs with it as you (or they) read it. It's kind of a must have for your child's at-home-library, if you ask me.

This is an excellent collection of articles describing people, firms, and nations that succeeded in modern capitlism. Looking a the four most successful economies of the past two centuries: England, US, Germany, and Japan- Prof. McCraw's expertly edited and coherent collection of articles gives the reader a flavor of what made for great success in the capitalist economy. Each country has three articles: a firm, an entrepenure, and the country itself for a total of 12 articles each written by true experts. McCraw's understanding of capitlism is somewhat skewed toward the modern, however on the whole the book is extremely balanced. Of partiuclar note, is Prof. David Moss's article on the Deutch Bank which dicusses the succcess, failures, rewards, and dark side of capitalism.

Another charming love story by Ms. Brooks. Our heroine and her brother are hired to cater the hero's sister's wedding. It's a last minute booking and one that could make or break their struggling catering company. From the beginning Reece's cold attitude towards love and marriage have Miriam disconcerted. They have an undeniable attraction but Miriam refuses to be just another "stringless" woman in Reece's life. I love how their relationship evolves and Reece slowly reveals hints of the man beneath all the icy cold expressions. When Miriam strikes back during a confrontation and tells him some home truths, you can't help but feel Reece's pain. Wonderful book to while away a rainy morning!

Miriam and her Mitch Bennett took over the running of a catering service their father started. Although for the past 5 yrs they have had to work tooth and nail to get the business into the black they both love what they are doing.
Reece Vance needs them to cater his twin sister Barbara's wedding.
This would be the largest job Mim and Mitch had done yet, and their dear friend and mentor Frank Craven recommended them for the job.
Miriam is put on her mettle, in more than one way.
Ice cold Reece is attracted to her, much against his own will, but attracted never the less.
Reece comes upon Mim being accosted by a couple of thugs after he had dropped her off at her office. She had left her briefcase in his car, when he put the mugs in their place, he took over the payment of their business vans they had bought from Gregory Turner. Mr Turner is two shakes from a prison sentence. The goons threaten to have their way with Mim when Reece came to Mim's rescue.
I saw right away that Reece had lost his heart to Mim, and that she was suffering from the same condition. It was just a matter of time.
But then I learn Reece and his sister had a unnatural mother, she was beautiful, but only on the outside, their father had loved her so much that anything she wanted he would turn flips to get to for her. Even when she wanted to send Reece and Barbara to boarding school at the age of 8, my heart goes out to the lonely little lost boy he still has his soul.
Mim ends up not only fighting her own feelings for Reece, but his back ground, as well as for Barbara's happiness.

The book tried to cover the basics as implied in the topic but it may have been more extensive if it was segmented a topic per chapter.
That being said it was a useful revision text.
