About the Author
E. W. Bullinger (1837-1913) was a direct descendant of Johann H. Bullinger, the Swiss reformer. Bullinger was a lifelong scholar and writer studying at King's College, London. In 1862 he was ordained in the Church of England. Although Strongs Concordance should be on every serious bible study shelf, this book expands more to the original meaning of words used in the New Testament. I recommend it for those who want an expanded definition and ideas to what the original words meant.

An excellent addition to any library. Easy to use, but if you have no knowledge of Greek, the words are not transliterated for you. However, that won't hinder you from digging truths from the New Testament using this book. If I had to replace all my Greek study books for any reason, I would start with this one - it's the most used in my modest collection.

A book for serious Bible students

As the other reviewers have said this is definitely a book you need to have in your collection along with a good Strong's Concordance and Thayer's Greek-English Lexicon (ISBN: 1565632095). For the most part if these three books agree about the definition of a word you can take it as that. In some cases I have seen the three disagree, but that should just lead you into a more in-depth Bible study that is bound to help you grow spiritually.

This is a book that I will keep on my bookshelf for many years and consistently go back to for advice and guidance. This book will be helpful for generations to come. I can literally see a kid picking up this book in 2070 and being inspired to change the world with it. I like the review on the back where it says, "For those who use this information, it will be a life changer." I completely agree. You have to not just read the book, but read and re-read it, underline the tips and quotes. And then apply it into your own life. Grant gives SO many PRACTICAL tips on how to get what you want out of life. This book made it instantly into my top 10 books of all time. Probably top 3 actually. I went and bought Grant's other books immediately after reading this. Grant is super positive and motivational. After reading this book you'll want to crush it everywhere in life. You will finally be given PERMISSION to go after your goals with an obsessed/relentless attitude. This book had motivated me and inspired me to really go towards my goal with full force and positivity. I also purchased Grant's 100 Ways to Stay Motivated Course after reading this. Grant is simply obsessed with making the world a better place in a good way. He is a role model and mentor to me even though I do know him personally. I Am Obsessed.

Julien C. Highly recommend

This book is a great addition to anybody teaching interpersonal communication courses at just about any level. It is sophisticated enough for seniors yet the writing is so clear that even intro-level students/courses would benefit from it. The examples are amazingly concrete because the author comes from a Language and Social Interaction background and uses tons of great dialogue excerpts to demonstrate the issues. He uses many other examples and illustrations too, some humorous, some serious, and all significant. The book builds a model of positive communication chapter by chapter that gains momentum as it goes. It also really does balance theory and practice well. Readers are encouraged to apply the ideas in the text in various ways and sharpen their own perceptive powers of observation. I was joking with a friend that I wanted to give a copy of this book to everybody in my life and say, "From now on, this is how we should be building our friendship." I highly recommend this book. It's a winner and not just a rehash or reshuffle of the most popular and well-worn theories in the field. It takes a very fresh approach and the writing itself is engaging and fun.

A practical guide to everyday communication

This is a fabulous book that everyone should read. I assigned it for one of my communication courses and students reported that it changed their lives and that they would not be selling this book back at the end of the semester. In fact, many reported that they purchased extra copies to give to family and friends. I think what my students and I enjoyed most is that what we learned in this book we could immediately apply in our lives in ways that we could see positive beneficial changes in our relationships with others. The text encourages all of us to forgive, to compliment, to ask questions, and a wide range of other behaviors; we become mindful of what we say and recognize that people respond differently to us when we are careful, compassionate, and considerate in how we communicate. I will read this book again and again.

Great book for work, school, relationships, and life in general.

Incredibly useful book for life, work, and relationships. This was a requirement for one of my classes and one of the few books I have kept throughout my college years. My professor got in contact with Dr. Mirivel and he was willing to Skype with the entire class and answer questions we had. If you read this Dr. Mirivel thank you for creating such a influential book in the Communication discipline. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in understanding and practicing to improve or learn about communication. Fantastic book.

About the Author
Greg Lane has owned and successfully transformed his own company, along with supporting others in leadership improvements in 32 countries, with diverse types of organizations. He has effectively led change while holding management and executive positions at General Motors and Delphi Automotive.

His 25 years of worldwide experience was strongly influenced while working for Toyota in the late 1980s, when he was one of a handful selected to be developed as a Toyota Key Person, through a year of specialized training in Japan. This included working with Toyota's top trainers, and then returning to train others within Toyota at their U.S. sites.

Today, Greg is internationally recognized as a coach in creating organizational change, and has been invited to speak on five continents about these successes. Also a recognized author, he has written the following:

Low Volume MFG

This book could have been better for me, but overall I liked it and found it useful. I work for a low volume Hi-mix company coming from a a hi-mix, hi-volume background. I found the traditional approaches were not going to work. Groping in the dark and some trial and error, I was coming to myown conclusions, when I found this book.

It is not a complete compendium of all lean tools. It refers you out to Duggan's Book (Mixed Models) and others for deeper dives into particular tools.

What is does do is give you a frame work to apply known tools to the low-volume problem. Traditional pull is ineffective if you make once or once or twice a year. Pull is still good, but the application of the tool is different because the circumstance is different.

The big learning out of this for traditional lean guys is; the tools still work, how and when to apply them changes. The skill in the practioner is learning the new how and when.

Quick overview in lo-volume: Traditional product families will be harder. Value stream maps are less important. Employee contribution and understand are much more critical. Focus on flow through the system. Focus on visual management of the team/cell, train the managers how to manage in that environment. Pull what you can pull... flow the rest. Mix kanban and MRP. Mix pull and push/flow. Focus on what works.

I would have liked a more definitive answer, but as the author wrote, the different circumstances of company's varies so much at this end of the spectrum, what is right for the 4 a day guy may not be for the 4 a month or 4 a year. Principles hold.... tools and applciations change.

Very good book on lean for manufacturers with high mix and low volume

This book has a lot of great ideas and examples (photos of boards for manufacturing). I love the "Managing Visually" chapter with all the examples. There are a lot of good nuggets throughout the book and I've used it as a reference in many situations. I keep finding more helpful info every time I pick up the book. Highly recommended.

A must have for high-mix low-volume manufacturers

This is a true "how to" book for implementing Lean concepts into Low-Volume High-Mix manufacturing. The author assumes the reader has some prior experience with the traditional lean concepts, so the emphasis is on how to apply those concepts to the low-volume high-mix environment without re-explaining the why or what, but rather just the how.

A few of the concepts I found to be the most "enlightening" were: how to get the biggest impact from visual controls; the combination kanban, work order, & FIFO boards; pushing at the first operation and flowing through the rest; handling shared resources; using work diaries to aid in office kaizen; using FIFO boards in office processes; and making improvements in the shop & office when you have excess capacity.

The book is stuffed with examples using pictures, charts, & drawings that make the concepts even easier to understand and apply. Many of the concepts include some commentary on the order to implement them in to achieve the greatest chances of success. The author does refer to several other books for more detailed information on a few topics. These include: A Revolution in Manufacturing: the SMED System by Shigeo Shingo, Creating Mixed Model Value Streams by Kevin J Duggan, Learning to See by Rother & Shook, and Integrating Kanban with MRP II by Raymond Lewis.
