and how a marriage to someone like her would differ from the woman that his aunt ...

SPOILERS! Not many, but they're there.....

Nineteen year old Abigail Barrow is brought to Dr. Simon Abbott's home, by a solicitor hired by her father before his death. His choices are to either marry Abigail and take on her father's extensive debt, or, by proxy, have Abigail sent to the workhouse to pay off her father's debt over her entire (most likely, short) lifetime. Simon's decision is made when he really LOOKS at Abigail and sees how and what she really is, and how a marriage to someone like her would differ from the woman that his aunt wants him to marry....so his decision is made.

I have a small confession--the arranged/forced marriage trope is probably one of my favorites. I always have found it interesting, especially on a historical level--what women have had to go through in order to survive and to be happy. While men had more of a choice, women were at their mercy, and it was up to them to try and make something out of nothing.

One of my favorite parts about this book is how...tender Simon is. The debt that he has to pay off is mentioned only once or twice by him, in the entire book. It is irrelevant, to his relationship with Abigail. And I also liked how he got through to the root of Abigail's behavior and issues--which is rooted in how she views herself (which is not in a good light)--and reassures her....through words AND spankings. He wasn't just a Daddy who liked to hit, or to punish for his own pleasure--but also to get to the root of the problem. And I also like that he made sacrifices for towards his own money and social standing (by marrying a "nobody" who came with a ton of debt), and did it for THEIR happiness and health. It wasn't a sacrifice for him--it was something that he knew would be better for their household and relationship.

I think the author did a good job of balancing Abigail as someone who is vulnerable and shy (two character traits I identify with and love to read about), without making her seem weak. She is someone that I think every woman can identify with with--especially us shy ones.

This is probably my favorite Ava Sinclair book and I hope she does more arranged/forced marriages tropes!

From nothing..to something

Abigail Barrow, has literally lost it all, with absolutely no prospects. Her only alternative is to become the ward to a physician. With a painful upbringing,she is in her own alternate reality. Unloved and unkempt, this man is an unknown. Will she endure more pain, and no love? Dr. Simon Abbott, has a deep desire to nurture,love and dominate a particular type of woman... a little. When he is visited and told he now has a ward(he is delighted, to indulge in his deepest desires and fantasies). He accepts the terms and conditions. He never realized how his new charge really is.. uneducated in both education and the ways of sexuality(he can educate her..mold her- discipline and love and everything in between). These two are both vulnerable in there own ways. The fact that the relationship was seen as taboo, doesn't deter them from having what they both want. A strong,disciplined relationship, with love,passion and his firm hand. This has to be the best in the series. Gave the book 5, the storyline is emotional and sexy all at the same time. The characters are sweet,defiant and show plenty of passion and fire. I hope Ava breaks into another series as I would love to see more from Simon and Abigail. And the couples who were introduced in the book! If your looking for sexy spankings, salaciously decadent sex scenes and everything you can image in age play this book is for you. The best one in the series! Can't wait for more! Sky is the limit!

A sweet Victorian AP

Typically Victorian age play can be harsh, but I did not find this one to be so. I loved the romantic and sweet way this story played out. Abigail has had such a hard life and when her father dies she thinks things are only going to get worse but surprisingly she is wrong. Wrong in the best possible way as she gains a new guardian, Simon, who is smitten by her from their first meeting. Their romance starts off unexpectedly and Abigail is against it but as time and circumstances change and develop their love blooms. Great read! I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an Advanced Reader Copy.

Rebecca Hardcastle, PhD is a pioneer in paranormal research and experience. She conceived Exoconsciousness to describe the extraterrestrial origins, dimensions and abilities of human consciousness. Great Information

I had the opportunity to attend a lecture given by the author and loved her energy. She shared great information and completely came from her heart. I loved this book, the information is cutting edge and much needed at this point in human evolution. I especially enjoyed the positive information about the Underworld, I hope that she will consider writing an entire book on this subject. This book was an easy read that delivers awesome information and I enjoyed every chapter. Understanding and tapping into higher consciousness is where it is at!

This intimate journey into a rich, vast world of possibilities is an esoteric, intelligent and light-filled pathway to her own destiny and everyone's potential destiny.This inner pathway not only leads to the cosmos, to the stars, but to the complex, mythological and extraterrestrial underpinnings of our history. I've been a big fan of THE FANTASTIC FOUR comic for over thirty-five years...The adventures of these marvel super heroes really got me hooked. It is easily my favourite comic !!. Can you imagine my utter suprise and disappointment when news broke that THE HUMAN TORCH would be killed and the title would be cancelled !!??. It was done...but deep in the recesses of my mind I just keep expecting,wishing and hoping that THE FANTASTIC FOUR will return...because the marvel universe is not the same without it!!...and to my stunning suprise it did !! with the milestone # 600th, 50th anniversary spectacular !!. 100 pages of pure excitement in multiple stories..The main one.."WHATEVER HAPPENED TO JOHNNY STORM?" has sated my curiosity. "THE ARC" with the mighty GALACTUS is an intresting continuation of "THE GALACTUS SEED" saga which begun in the MIGHTY THOR comic..this is going to be a spectacle in upcoming issues of THE FANTASTIC FOUR...and of course there is a serious battle with the KREE, the INHUMANS ,and the FF are caught right in the middle..another buildup too. Overall, great artwork, great stories..I thought STAN LEE would make a presentation..The only drawback ,but it's ok..You know what...I'm real glad it's back and I'm on for the ride !!.If you are a fan..I know you're on too..Very highly recomended. I've gotten another issue as an investment !!. MAKE MINE MARVEL !!!.

It was very important for me to realize that there was a difference between my intuitive sense of what Jesus taught and the official image. This opened up a very healing perspective, namely that when the official image contradicted my inner feeling, it might indeed be the official image that was out of touch with reality. To me, this is the difference between those who might benefit from this book and those who will reject it without giving it a closer look. In today’s world, many people have a strong intuitive sense of spiritual principles and many have indeed been disappointed by official Christianity. Many spiritually minded people have rejected Christianity and have consequently rejected Jesus as well―for how do you separate Christ from Christianity? What dawned on me was that Jesus is too significant of a figure in the spiritual life of earth for me to reject him based on a man-made religion. I realized that I could not let the doctrines and actions of Christian churches stand between me and Jesus. I wanted to know Jesus as he really is, not as he has been portrayed by an organization that was too often guided by political motives and expediency. As Jesus himself said: “ask, and ye shall receive.” When I started asking for answers, I found material that helped me gain a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the timeless teachings of Christ. This helped me answer what was for me the greatest question about Jesus, namely why he had suddenly disappeared from the earth 2,000 years ago. I had no problem accepting that Jesus had ascended to the spiritual realm and was still alive there as a spiritual being. Yet why wouldn’t he seek to guide us from that position, especially given that he himself had made the promise that he would be with us always? I simply couldn’t see Jesus being with us in the official churches so how did he intend to fulfill this promise? I gradually came to understand that Jesus is indeed with us today and that he has attempted to give us guidance many times over the past 2,000 years. I also saw that because Jesus is now an ascended being, this guidance must be given according to the overall law that determines life on earth, namely the Law of Free Will. The earth is a kind of experience machine in which we human beings are allowed to have certain experiences until we tire of them and decide that we want more.

If you consider yourself spiritual and accept the idea of progressive revelation, this is the next book you need to read. For followers of Jesus it’s as essential as the Four Gospels, a further step in a sincere, growing relationship with him. It reveals much more about his personality, attitudes, and spiritual knowledge than does the New Testament. The reason for that is simple, as Jesus notes in the book: “My teachings were adapted to the level of consciousness that people had 2,000 years ago." Humankind has evolved—somewhat—since then, and Jesus can now give us truths the crowds in Palestine couldn’t have grasped.
Even today, many spiritually minded people fear they will anger God if they explore ideas not printed in the books they have been told are holy. However, history shows us it was mortal beings who decided which texts were sacred, and their motives weren’t always the highest. Is it likely that God would give us inquiring minds and then take offense if we use them? We watch our children grow and we delight in their every development—is God likely to be incapable of that?
If you open the book and start to read, and if you keep reading when you encounter a thought that you suspect organized religion wouldn’t approve, you will come to a point where Jesus says this: “If you are reading this, you belong to a group of people who have the true teachings of Jesus Christ written in their beings.” That’s the moment when you may realize, like Saul of Tarsus, that you’ve made a connection—no, a reconnection—with the divine. Why turn away from this book and risk never living that moment?

Absolutely The Best Spiritual Guide EVER

Where to start! I found this book and the website in March 2014. It has changed my life. It is, quite simply, the message of hope that Jesus intend us to know. I am a cradle catholic turned catholic student (primary, secondary and college, omg!) turned recovering catholic turned spiritual seeker. I am so relieved and so grateful that I was guided to this book and website, and I can't wait to read the other books. This is the real thing - I have found a guide to living well and in spiritual harmony with myself, and the planet. I now know where I came from and where I'm going, and how to get there. And believe me, I've done my research - countless books over the past 40 years. As the other reviewer said, read these words with an open mind, and I would add, with your intuitive sense to "know" that this is the Truth.

At 64 years of age, the Lord has been gracious and long-suffering in preserving Kenneth Gulletts life. Currently, Kenneth is a member of the Shallowford Baptist Church in Lewisville N.C. and has been there for over 20 years. He has had the privilege of teaching the adult Sunday school class there for those same years. Years ago, Kenneth was involved in a missionary work in Illinois and at times substituting for the preacher, although Kenneth is not an ordained preacher. For many years, Ive had the privilege of Godly counsel from a number of Godly men who knew the scriptures. But, it has been the leadership of the Holy Spirit in guiding me to further knowledge of the scriptures.

An excellent introduction to quantum mechanics

Having used this textbook for two semesters of upper-division quantum mechanics classes, I have become very familiar with it. The strengths of the book are many: Dirac notation is used from the beginning; freedom of representation is streesed throughout and used as an aid to understanding; new topics are introduced through physical motivation before more detailed mathematical derivations; many advanced topics are covered as well as introductory material (Scattering, the Aharonov-Bohm effect, time-dependent perturbation theory, quantizing the radiation field); and the book is written at an approachable level, and can be read through by a dedicated student.
Certainly, the book has many weaknesses as well: the discussion of rotation operators in chapter 3 is plagued by mathematical mistakes and seemingly contradictory statements; certain mathematical "proofs" involve truncating Taylor series after a few terms - often with very little justification; and finally, the book does not present an axiomatic foundation to the subject, instead opting for physical justification and arguments.
All in all, I have enjoyed this text greatly -- the sections on Bell's inequality and quantizing the radiation field are particularly good. In my opinion, this book is great for people in its target audience: junior or senior physics majors. It does not attempt to be a mathematically rigorous text for applied mathematicians, but instead it succeeds in instilling a real sense of physical intuition in the reader -- anyone expecting differently will probably be disappointed.

A Very Sensible Presentation

This is a good QM textbook if you know linear algebra. Townsend introduces all the important ideas of QM in the finite-dimensional case (mostly the two-state case) where it all makes sense in terms of matrices and vectors. Then, once we already know about generators, raising and lowering operators, time evolution, the uncertainty principle, etc., he introduces wave mechanics as the "limit" in which sums become integrals, and so on. The basic advantage of this approach is that commutators, generators, etc. sound reasonable in the two-state context; if the results are strange, at least the operations are familiar.

In later chapters there's still an above-average amount of operator talk, which is good because operators are more fun than differential equations. The treatment of the harmonic oscillator (ch. 7) is particularly elegant because of all the machinery that's already been built up (esp. raising and lowering operators). Later chapters are generally good, too, but the operator formalism helps less.

The chapter on Bell's inequalities (ch. 5) is concise and very clear.

The pace of the exposition is gentle but I didn't find it _too_ gentle. The lack of mathematical rigor in ch. 6 (wave mechanics) is fair enough given the audience, and I guess it's too much to expect ch. 2 to talk about Lie groups (though Noether's theorem could have been discussed). There are confusing patches, e.g. on the Born approximation in ch. 13 (Scattering) and some of the material on angular momenta in ch. 3, but nothing terminal that I noticed. (The intro to Green's functions in ch. 13 is cursory and not very clear, but they can be looked up, I guess.)

The problems are a bit of a let-down; the challenging ones are relatively sparse and a lot of the others are either one-liners or just annoying.

A great undergrad text

I used this text for a course and was impressed with it. For those who claim Sakurai is a better text, I'd say that Sakurai is a text just a half a step above this on in difficulty. I've tried reading Sakurai and found that I only got anything out of it after having studied out of Townsend's book extensively. Sakurai is more on an intro graduate level, while Townsend was written specifically to be an upper-division undergraduate text.
In other words, I learned a whole heck of a lot from this book, but don't get Townsend expecting a complete and thorough graduate-level treatment of QM. It's a really good introduction that provides a few dips into more advanced topics (particulary chapter 14).
